For families

When someone you love needs help.

Watching substance use take hold of someone you love is its own kind of exhausting. You don't have to have it figured out, and you don't have to wait until they're ready. You can start the first step for them — right now.

Where to begin

You can take the first step for them.

The hardest part is often just picking up the phone. Here's what you can do today — and how family fits into care once your loved one is with us.

You can make the call

You don't have to wait until they're ready. Admissions answer 24 hours a day, every day of the year — you can call on your loved one's behalf. We check coverage on the call and talk through what a first step could look like.

How to start the conversation

Lead with what you've noticed and what you're worried about, not with ultimatums. You don't need the perfect words — you only need to open the door. If it helps, call us first and we'll help you think it through before you talk to them.

Family can be part of the work

Families are part of treatment at Sheridan Grove Recovery. Family members can visit on Family Day, and family therapy helps rebuild communication and trust, with the patient's written consent.

Visiting your loved one

Family Day visitation is held on Fridays, 3:00 to 4:45 p.m. See visiting hours, parking and what to know before you come.

Don't forget yourself

You matter in this, too.

You can't pour from an empty cup. Loving someone through substance use is heavy, and looking after your own footing isn't selfish — it's what lets you keep showing up. When you call, we're here to help you carry it, not just them.

Questions families ask

Answers before you call.

Can I call on behalf of a family member?

Yes. Many calls come from a parent, partner, or sibling. Admissions answer 24/7 and can talk through options, verify coverage, and help you plan the next step — even before your loved one is ready to call themselves.

What if they're not ready to go?

That's common, and it doesn't mean nothing can happen yet. We can help you understand where they are, what care would look like, and how to keep the door open. A phone call commits you to nothing.

Do you accept Colorado Medicaid and insurance?

Yes. Both Medicaid and commercial insurance accepted — neither undercuts the other. We verify your loved one's specific benefits with you on the call and confirm what's covered before anything begins. Checking your coverage doesn’t mean you’ve decided anything. It just means you’ll know.

Is family involved in treatment?

Families are part of treatment at Sheridan Grove Recovery. Family members can visit on Family Day, and family therapy helps rebuild communication and trust, with the patient's written consent.

When can family visit?

Family Day visitation is held on Fridays from 3:00 to 4:45 p.m. Patients become eligible after completing a 10-day blackout period. Visits are scheduled through the patient's counselor. Every visitor must be approved and have a valid Release of Information authorization on file, and patients may also coordinate their approved visitors with their counselor. Visitors must be at least 18. Hours, parking and belongings pickup are on our visiting page.
